In Quebec we call it taking a vacation in Balconville (because you sit on the balcony and watch the world go by) in other places call it a staycation. A vacation at home.
While you don't go anywhere, you also don't have to pack, don't have to worry about paying for a hotel and you don't have to worry about missed connectons or getting there on time. It can be as easy sitting in the backyard and reading a book but it can be as different as any other vacation, visiting to the amusement park, museums or parts of the city that you just haven't bothered to see and promised yourself that you were going to see one of these days. A spot your friends who visit from others cities go to see when they visit you, but you just never made it.
If you are going to do this, consider doing some things you never do or get to do. A night at the opera (in the cheap seats if you have to), a museum, odd tourist spots like an interactive experience or just odd buildings or collections. Enjoy your time and the fact that you don't have to go to work and relax!
